About Us

1945

Norman Sheet Metal Company was founded in 1945, residing in a small storefront office on 21st Avenue in Paterson, New Jersey. It began as a residential heating company, installing coal & oil furnaces. In 1947, the ownership changed hands and the company was incorporated.

1957

The new owners, then realizing that a larger growth potential could be achieved in the then booming new custom home construction market of northern Passaic and Bergen counties, moved its operation to a four-car garage on Main Street in Bloomingdale, New Jersey. Before long, the business operations outgrew this facility. A suitable piece of property located at 132 Union Avenue, Bloomingdale, New Jersey was purchased, and a 9,000 square foot facility was constructed.

1973

Business continued to grow, and in July of 1973, a new management team purchased Norman Sheet Metal Co., Inc. The new management continued the company’s growth program; along with maintaining its’ policy of experience, integrity and service. As the company grew, Norman Sheet Metal became accepted as the leader in its field in the Northern New Jersey area.

1998

In 1998 the current owner, Rob Brauch, who already owned a well-established HVAC contracting business in northern New Jersey purchased the company. At the time of acquisition, Norman Sheet Metal Company, which was struggling through the recession of the late 1980s and early 1990s, had reduced to nine full time employees, an aging fabrication shop, and a small fleet of vehicles. Norman Sheet Metal’s consistent uncompromised quality of workmanship, strict business ethics, and rich history, along with the commitment to reinvest, and the vision of the new ownership, formed a promising, well-rounded company, Norman Sheet Metal & Mechanical Corporation.

2001

Over the last seven years, Norman Sheet Metal & Mechanical has purchased, and moved into, a modern 16,000 square foot facility, and has acquired major components such as a completely re-tooled fabrication shop, including a computer automated plasma cutting system and duct manufacturing coil line, an AutoCAD shop drawing system, and a growing fleet of 50+ vehicles.

2008

Additionally, there has been a recent re-development of the managing structure of the company. A full time, certified public accountant with a strong construction background has joined the staff as Chief Financial Officer, as well as a senior estimating manager, field superintendent, draftsman, all equipped with extensive experience in our field. Several administrative positions, seasoned service technicians, and field personnel have also been added to the roster, bringing the staff to 80 full time employees.

2009

In the midst of one of the worst economic down-turns since Norman Sheet Metals inception, we have still maintained our goal to keep re-investing in the company by purchasing a local 5,000 square foot satellite warehouse for secure equipment storage, a computer automated spiral duct manufacturing coil line, and a gorelocker spiral duct fitting machine.
